README_v320_SP2 Date: March 25, 2016 Product: OpenSpirit Runtime Version: v320 SP2 Platform: Solaris 8, 9, 10 Linux RHEL WS3, RHEL AS4, RHEL 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OVERVIEW This service pack only effects sites running OpenSpirit versions 3.2.0 or 3.2.1 with OpenWorks 2003.12.x.  No other data connector is affected. If OpenWorks 2003.12.x is not used, then this service pack is not needed.  This service pack must be installed on the Solaris or Linux OpenSpirit Master installation and any associated Solaris or Linux Satellite installations.  There is no service pack needed on Windows installations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SP2 PROBLEMS RESOLVED Issue 1 - SeisWorks project directories being inadvertently created. The OpenWorks 2003.12 data connector may create new SeisWorks project directories even if the user is doing a read/only workflow (e.g. displaying a list of 3d volumes in the DataSelector. For example, if the dir.dat looks like: /dir1 sys global /dir2 /dir3 The user has a SeisWorks project named 'sw1'. There has to be a directory named '/dir1/sw1' since that is the system directory but '/dir2/sw1' and '/dir3/sw1' do not have to exist. Under these conditions the OpenWorks 2003.12 data connector it will create '/dir2/sw1' and '/dir3/sw1' if the user has the ability to do a 'mkdir' for /dir2 and /dir3. Issue 2 - The failure to return data from SeisWorks projects (e.g. 2d/3d datasets, 2d/3d horizons) if the users's dir.dat contained a directory that the user does not have write permissions to. Querying for data stored in SeisWorks projects will fail if the user has a dir.dat file and at least one of the directories does not contain the SeisWorks project directory and that directory has limited permissions so the user cannot create a SeisWorks project directory. For example, If /dir2 does not have '/dir2/sw1' and the '/dir2' file permissions are read/only (e.g. dr-xr-x---) then new directories cannot be created. Issue 3 - The failure to return data any SeisWorks 2d/3d seismic datasets or 2d/3d horizons if one of the file contained in the SeisWorks project directory cannot be opened. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1) Download the appropriate service pack tar.gz file (Solaris or Linux) from the OpenSpirit website. 2) Log in as the OpenSpirit administrator. 3) Shut down the OpenSpirit Shared services if patching the master installation. 4) cd to the top level OpenSpirit installation directory to be patched (i.e. $OSP_HOME) and unzip / untar the content of the patch. This will replace the affected files and will create a readme file to document the existence of the service pack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please let us know if you have any questions or problems.
